Award-winning local artist and teacher Gayle Rappaport-Weiland hosts this mini interview with “A Place to Grow” owner Dana O’Brien.

“A Place to Grow” is an environmentally friendly company that creates greenhouses, and other unique outdoor spaces out of recycled and reclaimed materials, keeping these materials out of the landfill and re-purposing them into functional art. Each outdoor structure, nicknamed “She-Sheds” by Dana, is as unique as the reclaimed materials used to build it.

Ridley Gallery compliments and expands the educational environment of Sierra College and the community by featuring an exceptional range of artwork and artifacts. The gallery exhibits cutting-edge work of leading regional, national and international artists as well as faculty artists, alumni and students in seven shows throughout the year. Located on the Rocklin campus of Sierra College, this bright and spacious gallery was dedicated in the spring of 1998. The gallery is named in memory of Robert Ridley, art professor, who long believed a college gallery would enrich the cultural experience and understanding of students through exposure to local and nationally recognized artists.

The Art Revealed Show Examines the Blend of Art, Fashion, and Social Giving

Award-winning local artist and teacher Gayle Rappaport-Weiland hosts this mini interview with VIDA CEO Umaimah Mendhro.

VIDA combines art with fashion, all for the purposes of social giving.  VIDA takes art, submitted by artists and photographers, and prints them onto scarves and outerwear, to create unique, colorful, fashionable clothing.  They are produced in Pakistan, with trained workers, who also receive an education using proceeds from the sale of the clothing.  One of VIDA’s missions is to fight exploitation of garment workers in Pakistan through providing living wages and education.

Richard Anthony Munoz, Mr. Makeup, as he has come to be known in the media and creative circles, decided to begin work on ‘live canvases’ over ten years ago. His commercial makeup artistry has allowed him to serve as a key makeup artist in feature films, print campaigns and television productions. Mr. Munoz’s client list includes notable actors, musicians, models and members of the United States Congress. His work has been featured on ABC, CBS, E! Sacramento Ballet’s Artistic Director Ron Cunningham

Mr. Cunningham is a choreographer of distinction in a variety of styles and has created over sixty ballets for the international stage. His ballets have received critical acclaim in London, Peking, Shanghai, Canton, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Milan, Rome, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston. His Cinderella was the first American ballet to be seen in the People’s Republic of China and was televised to over 30 million viewers.

Kim Box is an inspirational leader, writer, speaker and triathlete. Milton Bowens is an award winning artist, and educator in the Twin Rivers School District of Sacramento. His passion is to keep the arts alive and a vital part of public education as a tool to build self esteem among the youth. Milton’s work combines art and African American history to create collages which inspire young people to learn more about African American history and culture.
